

HSSD Construction Update

This publication showcases construction progress made across the district. The projects listed are the result of the successful April 2021 referendum, in which residents voted to approve $98 million in facilities updates at all eight HSSD schools. Forest Glen Commons and Specials Classrooms Open
Beginning the week of January 2, 2023, the new Forest Glen Commons, Art, Music, and World Cultures classrooms welcomed students for the first time! The final touches were completed during winter break. See below for before and after photos of each space.
Before and After: Commons
Formerly the gym, the Commons features new floor and furniture, wall and ceiling decor, and natural light.
Before and After: World Cultures
Formerly the music room, the World Cultures classroom received new carpeting, furniture, and storage.
Before and After: Art
The art classroom remains in the same location and now includes whiteboards on its storage doors and new furniture.
Music
The music room moved locations and includes special ceiling tiles built to absorb sound.
What's Next
Roofing activities are 98% complete and the new gym area is being heated.
The locker room progress continues as the painters move throughout the space.
Tile work is starting.
Bay View Wright House Moves Into New Space
On January 2, when staff and students returned from winter break, Wright House moved into its new location within Bay View. The top photo was taken as furniture was being delivered during break.
