Need to Know Info...
Programs: Grandparents, Veterans, Christmas: We are working hard at school, and even in light of the pandemic, we are trying to maintain some of our favorite traditions. Below is a link to a special slide show for our Grandparents! Watch your email on 11/11 for a special presentation by our 5th graders as they honor our Veterans for Veterans' Day. In the coming weeks, Mrs. Baker will share details about how you can tune in for our Virtual Christmas Program. We are still making learning fun, and our kids continue to show up with great attitudes and work ethic. I assure you this new way of doing things will not get us down!
Picture Retakes: Picture retakes will occur on Wed, Dec 2. Students participating in remote learning may come to school that day for school pictures.
News from the Thorntown Public Library - Upcoming Activities: Christmas at the library will look a bit different this year. Unfortunately, we must cancel our annual first Monday in December Family Christmas party. However, we will be scheduling visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus! We will be scheduling 3 family groups per 15-minute increment. While waiting to visit with Santa, guests will be asked to follow current guidelines regarding masks and social distancing. Santa and Mrs. Claus will wear masks if a family requests they do so. A FREE photo will be provided.
Visit dates/times are:
Tuesday, December 1 – 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Saturday, December 5 – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Wednesday, December 9 – 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Saturday, December 12 – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Go to our website http://www.thorntownpl.org/ to schedule your visit or you may call the library at 765-436-7348.
Arrival/Dismissal in Front of the Building: We really appreciate your cooperation with the enforcement of our arrival and dismissal procedures. It feels good to know we all work together for the safety of our kids! For future reference, you can access the Arrival/Dismissal Plan here.
Masks: Students in grades 3-6 are still required to wear masks at school. Our younger students need to have a mask at school each day to wear when social distancing cannot be achieved. Please help your child remember to bring a mask to school each day. We have given out most of our surplus. If students come without a mask, we may need them to call home to have one brought to school.
Lost & Found: With the ever-changing weather, it is common for students to leave behind coats and sweatshirts at school. We collect lost and found on the bleachers in the gym. Every couple weeks, we bag it up and move it to a locker room. Please encourage your child to check lost and found for missing items. If they don't find it there, we can arrange a time to go through the inventory from the locker room; however, we will donate unclaimed items once a month in an effort to keep our inventory down. It is helpful if you can label tags in coats and backpacks so we can return lost items as we come across them. Thanks for your help.

You-nique, sung by Thorntown students
Every feature on your face, your ears, your eyes, your nose, your teeth are as perfect as can be. So sing, “I’m brave, I’m strong, I’m loved, I’m smart, and I’m unique. And there’s no one else in the whole wide world exactly like me.”
Speak a little bit louder. The world is waiting on your voice. Be true, true to what you have to say. You know you’ve got the power, but only you can make the choice to do, do it your own way.
The world’s an oyster, you’re the pearl; let who you really are unfurl. Just be exactly who you are, be proud and say, “I’m brave, I’m strong, I’m loved, I’m smart, and I’m unique.”
