Happy New Year!

Wow! It's already 2016! Hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing winter break. A big thank you to all of the parents that volunteered to make our winter party a TRUE celebration. It was a blast and the kids had so much fun!

The Power of a Bedtime Math Story

Here is a link to a great article about the power of a Bedtime Math story. Bedtime math is a free app developed by a nonprofit organization, that uses stories and sound effects to present kids with math problems they can solve with their parents. The article discusses a study that showed that when kids frequently used the app with their parents, those who used the math app, over a school year, were three months ahead in terms of math achievement.

Slice of Agriculture Field Trip

We will be attending the Slice of Agriculture Field Trip the afternoon of January 29th from 11:30-3:00. Our classroom will rotate through eight stations (over a two hour time period) that provide information about various agriculture topics.

Once the students have rotated through all eight stations they will enjoy pizza, carrots, milk and ice cream. If your child cannot consume this meal, you may send another type of snack if you wish. Because we are leaving Quail Run at 11:30, thus missing our lunchtime, please send a sack lunch and a drink with your child.

Our field trip is hosted inside a heated livestock arena located on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. It is typically around 60 degrees in the building. Coats and long pants are encouraged!

Please let me know if you have any questions!
