Counselors' Consortium
October 23, 2018 at North Georgia RESA
Please join us for our next Counselors’ Consortium Meeting on October 23!
It is our honor to be hosting Dr. Andrew Roach from Georgia State University. He will be speaking to us on Mindfulness Training in schools.
Dr. Andrew Roach is Associate Director of the Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) — a University Center for Excellence in Disability (UCEDD) at Georgia State University.
He is an associate professor with joint appointments in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (College of Education & Human Development) and the School of Public Health.
Dr. Roach is a nationally certified school psychologist and former elementary and middle school teacher (nine years of classroom experience). He also coordinated family-centered positive behavior support services at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University prior to coming to GSU.
Dr. Roach’s many specialties include Mindfulness Training – a somewhat controversial approach to addressing stressors for both teachers and students. It involves meditation, breathing, and oftentimes yoga and allows those involved to be focused on their thoughts and feelings without being consumed by them.
