All about Jupiter

  • Jupiter is the fifth planet or 483,800,000 miles from the sun. It's also two planets away from earth or 390,682,810 miles away from jupiter.
  • The atomasphere is mostly made of molecular hydrogen and helium in solar proportions and other chemical compounds are only in small amounts and include methane, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and water. Although water is also thought to be deep in the atmosphere, its measured concentration is very low.
  • The average temperature at the top of Jupiter's clouds is –244° F.
  • Jupiter has one special weather condition is it red dot storm. Jupiter's Great Red Spot is a huge, it's long lasting storm in the atmosphere of the Southern Hemisphere of Jupiter. It is an anti cyclonic storm, much like a huge hurricane on earth. Three earths could equal that storm. The color of the storm is actually pink/orange not red.
  • Jupiter is a giant ball of gas and liquid. The planet's surface is composed of dense red, brown, yellow, and white clouds. The clouds are arranged in light colored areas called zones and darker regions called belts that circle the planet parallel to the equator.
  • A Jupiter year is between 11 and 12 earth years. It orbits the Sun every 11.86 Earth years
  • A day on Jupiter, also known as the sidereal rotation period, lasts 9.92496 hours. Jupiter is the fastest rotating body in our Solar System.
  • Jupiter has 63 moons discovered in this day. Some names of Jupiter's moons are Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and many more.
  • The surface gravity of Jupiter is 2.53 times that on Earth. While scientists have also calculated Jupiter’s gravity, the planet does not have a solid surface

Getting to your Destination

  • The spacecraft that will take you to Jupiter is a solar powered spacecraft. The people from NASA have gone to jupiter before. They have traveled in the spacecraft named Juno.
  • It will take a little more than five years or 1,740 million miles in order to get to Jupiter

So if you are a traveler and this would a perfect trip for you to take you might even be able to see some other planets on your trip to Jupiter
