START SOLE
Self Organized Learning Environment
Jeff McClellan
Mitra's wish was to build a school in the cloud, where children can explore and learn from one another.
SOLE- Self Organized Learning Environments
- Draws on children's natural curiosity to create a dynamic space to learn, interact, and develop critical problem-solving skills.
- Lessons can be used with any content/grade level
- Supports the 4 C's: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication
- Aligned to the standards
Each SOLE session has three parts:
- Asking a Big Question
- Conducting collaborative investigation
- Holding a review phase in which students present what they’ve learned
This methodology is a simple, yet powerful, way to create a personalized student experience in which students become their own teachers.
Stem Connection
All students will learn to apply STEM concepts and practice through three-dimensional and authentic project-based learning.
Let's get started!
Follow the steps and begin the lesson
2. Choose a subject
3. Choose a grade
4. Allow students to investigate
5. Provide assistance as students discuss/present
6. Faciliate reflection
Faciilitate the Learning and collect evidence
Capture photos and videos to document students’ work in groups, as well as upload students’ final work and presentations for archival purposes.
TIps for Start Sole
- Designed to be used once a week or once every two weeks
- It will take about 6 attempts before students become comfortable with the process
- Practice and reflection are critical components
