Down to the final three, vote for our new Mascot!
It is time to make our final decision about the name of our new RCS mascot. We were excited to have received over 5000 responses to the last RCS Rebranding Community Survey which narrowed down our third choice for the final round. In this final round, our community will be casting their vote by selecting one of these three choices, The…

We will be holding a student art contest later this fall after the mascot name has been chosen. Students will submit their concepts for what our mascot will look like and our community will cast one final vote.
Unlike our other community surveys, you will need to enter your email address in order to participate in the survey process. This process will better ensure that participants are casting only one vote. These email addresses will never be shared or used to communicate with participants.
Please participate in the survey here. This survey will close at noon on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Transportation Department Update
We know that transportation needs are a vital part of getting our students and athletes safely to and from school and away games. We are doing our best to continuously have bus routes running routinely and have not canceled any games this season. The Transportation Department has made hard choices in order to get our students where they need to go, and when they need to get there. Homecoming and Spirit Week
Get your green and gold ready, the District will be celebrating Homecoming week from Monday, September 25th through Friday, September 29th. Our Fall Sports teams each have a game at home, so come out and cheer them on! View next week's homecoming games here. Students, parents, and spectators are encouraged to read our District Stadium and Gymnasium Rules of Conduct, which you can find here and on our Athletic Page.
We encourage all district students and staff to wear green and gold to school on Friday, September 29th to celebrate the end of our homecoming week!
Update on 2023 Capital Improvements/Construction Projects
As we head into fall, we are wrapping up outdoor projects that were a part of the 2023 Capital Improvements/Construction Project. We would like to share an update on those projects that were completed under the scope of the referendum and additional outdoor facility improvements. The additional outdoor facility improvements were not under the scope of the 2023 referendum. They were funded utilizing existing funds from grants, donations from the community or PTA/PTO Organizations, and Community Host Benefit Agreements.
Under the Referendum:
At the Elementary Schools, the renovation of six classrooms is nearing completion. The Asbestos abatement, which took place during the summer was completed in August. There is a slight delay in the upgrade of the Univents (HVAC systems), and the district will coordinate their replacement during the school year. The dugouts and fencing project at Pieter B. is moving forward with a contractor awarded the bid. Materials are being ordered, and the completion date for this project is set for Spring 2024.
The upgrade to the electric service that supplies the main power supply for the Middle School was completed, along with the update to the code-required backflow preventer. The most significant change on campus is the demolition of the trailer (former concession stand) along the high school stadium athletic field. Still to come are improvements to the press box above the main bleachers. This work will start at the end of the fall stadium sports season.
Additional Outdoor Facility Improvements:
Playground improvements were not funded under the 2023 Capital Improvements Referendum.
They were funded utilizing existing funds from grants, donations from the community or PTA/PTO Organizations, and Community Host Benefit Agreements.
A.W. Becker - Playground equipment is on-site, and installation is presently taking place.
6th Grade Playground at the Middle School - The Mulch under the equipment was completed.Reminders
Who To Contact and When Guide
The Who to Contact and When Guide was put together to connect the community with the most knowledgeable and direct person for concerns or questions. When looking for assistance, please start at level 1 and move up through the levels if that person is unable to provide you with the assistance you need. The Board of Education will become involved, if necessary, in the final stage of the process. Check out the guide here and on the second page of the 2023-24 RCS Printed Wall Calendar.
Open Houses Next Week
A.W. Becker will host its Open House on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, for Grades 1-5 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Letters have gone home to families about times of classroom presentations. They strongly recommend carpooling with a friend or neighbor to allow ease of parking. Thank you in advance for making childcare arrangements for their open houses.
RCS High School will be the final host for the district open houses on Thursday, September 28 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. They will be following a meet-and-greet style where you are welcome to grab a coffee and refreshments and visit your student's teachers at your leisure.
