Early Release Day TODAY

Students will be dismissed from school at 12:20 Friday October 7 so our teachers can examine the results of our Fall reading and math assessments and plan instruction that precisely meets our students' needs. Bus schedules will run exactly 2 hours early in the afternoon.

NPSfI Recognized

North Park School for Innovation has a history of being recognized for its innovative approach to serving students - so much so that we added it to our name! There has been a significant increase of us being asked to share our story in the last week. Thursday October 6, an hour and a half workshop and presentation kicked off the annual Association for Learning Environments architecture and education conference in San Antonio, Texas. Principal Cacek joined the presentation on Zoom to share how this community united to build a school where children learn how to meet the unique challenges of a future that requires not just readers and mathematicians, but scientists, collaborators, engineers, and problem-solvers, also.

Additionally, Representative Ilhan Omar reached out to us and requested a tour to learn more about what schools can do to mitigate the consequences climate change and educate students to be be prepared to respond and thrive in a world that could be very different from the one their parents and grandparents remember. Representative Omar's visit will be Tuesday October 11.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Fall conferences are scheduled for November 10 and 16 from 3:30 to 7:00. Please click this link to schedule a time with your student's teacher.

NPSfI Book Fair

The Book Fair will be here November 10! Students will have an opportunity to browse through and purchase books during the school day and we will remain open during parent/teacher conferences from 3:30 to 7:00

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

Since September 15 we have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Currently, classes are reading books such as Sundays with Abuelita, learning about Hispanic Americans important to modern history, and have completed a building-wide art installation celebrating the flags of Latin American Countries. Below are a few examples.

Art of Columbia Heights 2023 City Calendar Submissions - Deadline Nov. 1

Calling all photographers and artists! The City of Columbia Heights is making a 2023 calendar, with important date reminders relevant to Columbia Heights, that features select photos and images relating to art in and of Columbia Heights. Three categories of submissions are eligible:

Paintings, drawings, or graphic designs by Columbia Heights residents or of Columbia Heights landmarks,

Photos of art, architecture, performances, artists, and other artistic things in Columbia Heights,

Photos taken within Columbia Heights that are particularly artistic by themselves or edited in artistic ways (think collage, creative filtering, or mixed media).

In years past this application has always been referred to a “lunch form.” This is a misleading title as it releases funds to hire more teachers for our students in addition to those used for school lunches.
