5th Grade - Room 15
It is hard to believe that it's already December! We have completed a lot thus far in 5th grade but have tons more to do before the end of the year. The students and I are loving having Chromebooks to enhance the learning process ! Ask your child to show you some of the projects they have completed or are in process of completing on their chromebooks. Our wonderful Holiday Concert last week was a great way to start the holiday season. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
What's Happening in FFFG (Franke's Fantastic Fifth Grade):
Students are all assigned a book that they will use in their literature circles. Each day they complete a reading assignment along with a role sheet. The next day they use that sheet to participate in a discussion about the book. We will finish these books before break. This book is considered their "December Book". Please encourage your child to read over their 2 week vacation!
Hopefully your child shared their Turkey paper during Thanksgiving. They are now writing another persuasive holiday paper! We are also learning how to incorporate figurative language into our writing!
Fractions, Fractions, Fractions! Students just finished learning about adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Next we will learn how to multiply and divide fractions.
I am sure you heard about the interesting things that have happened to your child's colony during our Interactive Discovery Unit! The students are actively involved in helping their colony succeed in the New World.
We will begin our Chemistry and Matter unit the week of Dec. 15th; like the Social Studies, a lot of this unit will have homework on-line.
The Kapco Kids 2 Kids Toy Drive ends this Thursday! Please send in any new toys this week so we can reach our goal of collecting 400 toys!
We need a few items for our Holiday Party on Dec. 19th. Please see the Sign Up
