First day of school information

Welcome back Storm! August 9, 2020

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

Dear parents and students,

Welcome back to the 2020-21 school year at San Jose Prep!

I am so excited to finally be able to see all of you again, even if virtually!

I know that this is an unusual start of school- there may be some glitches and hiccups to overcome the first couple of days, but please know that we will get through these and start off strong. I believe in all of you and I truly believe that we have what it takes to be the top charter school in Jacksonville. I believe in you.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful year. I can't wait to see you in person and for all of the amazing new things to come- a full athletics program, more teachers and staff, new clubs, and of course- a brand new building. We are making history Storm...let's make this an amazing year!

Have you downloaded our school app?

Did you know that we have a school app? It is free to download on the app store for both Apple and Android devices. This will help you stay up to date with the latest school updates.

Focus

Parents- it is very important for all of you to have a parent account to Focus. This will allow you to see your students' grades in real time.

For instructions on how to create a parent Focus account, go to https://dcps.duvalschools.org/Page/15745

When you have completed your application for an account, email michelle.pangle@sanjoseprep.org in order to have your account activated.

Once you have created the account, please allow 48 hours for activation.

Having difficulties? Please contact michelle.pangle@sanjoseprep.org for assistance.

Uniforms

We now sell school uniforms at our 4040 Sunbeam Rd school store.

There are 2 ways to purchase uniforms:

School uniforms for 2020-21 will be:

Middle school: royal blue polo, gray hoodie

High school: black polo, black hoodie

If you order online, click on the item you wish to purchase and the next page will let you choose the appropriate colors.

High school students who have the previous school uniform may wear them as we phase in the new high school look.

We ask that during virtual instruction students wear uniform shirts in order to ease the transition once we fully return to school.

For more details on school uniform guidelines, please visit our website: https://www.sanjoseprep.org/school-uniform/

Attention 7th grade parents!!!!

Don't forget that, per Florida Statute, all students entering the 7th grade must have the TDAP shot in order to attend school!

Please make sure that your student has had their shots and send a copy of the shot record to michelle.pangle@sanjoseprep.org

Senior pictures

Class of 2021:

Don't forget that you must schedule your Senior pictures through Lifetouch. The deadline for Senior pictures is September 30. Don't forget that we will need your Senior picture for graduation!

Clubs and sports

Clubs and sports will still meet this year.

We will be releasing a list of clubs at the beginning of the school year and have a virtual club fair for students. Clubs that choose to host some meetings in person are required to observe all the COVID safety guidelines.

Athletics will also continue using the FHSAA's strict COVID-19 guidelines for participation.

Forms required for participation in athletics can be found at https://www.sanjoseprep.org/athletics/

For questions about athletics, please contact our athletic director at amaziah.drummond@sanjoseprep.org

School supplies

Teachers will be sharing their supply lists in class this week. You still have time to get the supplies since we are currently on virtual instruction.

Breakfast/lunch distribution during virtual instruction

We will offer pick up for breakfast and lunch two days a week during virtual instruction. On Mondays, meals will be distributed for Mon, Tues, and Wed. On Wednesdays, meals can be picked up for Thursday and Friday.

Any adult can pick up a meal for a child that is enrolled at our school. We do have to track who is picking up for which child to avoid duplicate pick ups so please be prepared to provide your student's name(s) and your ID.

In order for us to adequately plan for meals, please complete this quick, two question survey if you are planning to come pick up meals: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HRG786J

If you purchased a 2019-2020 yearbook and did not pick it up during yearbook distribution, you can pick up your yearbook at our school store on 4040 Sunbeam Rd. from 9am-1pm Monday through Friday.
