Due to the weather conditions expected on Tuesday, February 16th, Katy ISD has made the decision that all students will stay home that day, and instruction will be done asynchronously. This means that students will check in with their teachers and classes, but on their own time. They do not need to zoom or follow their schedule with their teachers and classmates through the day in real time. This applies to both in-person learners and KVA learners.

What does this mean for my student?

Students engaged in asynchronous virtual learning should:

✓ Log in to Canvas during the school day (8:55 AM - 4:05 PM) to review announcements, daily agendas and lessons teachers have posted under modules for their courses. Students don’t have to be logged in at a certain time for a certain course at a certain time period.

✓ Follow the teacher’s procedures for reporting attendance. Attendance will be taken for each class. Students will be considered absent without documented engagement in Canvas and/or contact with the teacher. On Tuesday, our teachers will be collecting attendance electronically using tools such as Google Forms, Canvas Quiz, etc.

✓ Complete all assignments assigned for Tuesday.

✓ Reach out to teachers when help is needed through Canvas and/or Email. Teachers will be reachable on Tuesday during school hours via email and Canvas on Tuesday.

✓ Quizzes and tests scheduled for Tuesday will be postponed and rescheduled. Quizzes and tests already scheduled for Wednesday may be given at the teacher’s discretion. If given, teachers will remind students to be prepared and expect these quizzes and tests on Wednesday.

What if my student has issues with technology?

For Tuesday, if there is an issue with your technology or access to technology, please let your teacher know. Your teachers' phone numbers and e-mails can be accessed through our website by clicking here. Our teachers will be flexible and will work with your student upon our return to normal instruction.

COVID-19 Testing Site Temporary Relocation

Students and staff will continue to receive free testing services at the temporary location.

The dates and times for the temporary relocation are as follows:

Leonard Merrell Center

February 17-19, 2021

Closed February 15-16, 2021
Closed February 20, 2021

Hours: 7 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Free COVID-19 testing services for students and staff will resume again at the Agricultural Sciences Center on February 22, 2021, with normal operating hours.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Katy ISD is providing a free breakfast and lunch to all students through the end of June. However, since the free meal waiver for all students expires on June 30, we want to make sure that students who were eligible for free and reduced meals last school year continue to receive free meals as we continue into the start of the new school year. Student meal eligibility also contributes to additional funding for your child’s campus and the district.

The Free & Reduced Lunch application can be completed in your student’s SchoolCafe account here.
