The OIS Tribune
August 2023
Dear Osceola Intermediate School Families,
On behalf of the entire team at Osceola Intermediate School, I am so HAPPY to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Julie Bender and it is hard to find words that explain how excited I am to be your Intermediate School Principal! Our building is the home for over 300 students in grades 3-5 and approximately 50 staff members that bring smiles and excitement to your child everyday! As a team, we are committed to creating a safe, positive school environment that ensures academic and social and emotional growth for ALL learners through collaboration, respect and compassion.
With each approaching school year, excitement and anticipation seems more contagious than ever!! We hope you are eager to send your child to Osceola Intermediate School because we are excited for your child to come and join us as they learn and grow as students and young people with each new experience. As a parent myself, I cannot imagine my children being anywhere else than the Osceola School District! We are so fortunate to send our children to a district in which each staff member truly cares about the academic achievement and social and emotional development of each and every student.
At OIS specifically, it is very unlikely to walk through the halls and see students alone or disconnected from their peers. We thrive from active, engaged learning where students feel pride and success! We are proud of the whole-child approach! Students are put first, always; social and emotional learning and well-being are one of our highest priorities. We utilize best practices to ensure students are ready for academic learning: PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports), REACH classes (focus on social and emotional learning), and Responsive Classroom strategies in every classroom.
We are committed to growing students academically through research-based resources like Wonders, Math Expressions and Mystery Science. With the support of academic interventionists, we are devoted to every student and their academic growth and success. We are proud of our knowledge and expertise within the EMLSS process (RTI) and the time committed to reaching all students during the school day. We pledge to continue to grow students!
From staff members and students to families and the community, we are all a TEAM! It takes all of us to ensure the success of your children. With a collaborative approach, we can ensure students at OIS receive the best education possible both academically and socially. On behalf of the entire Intermediate School, we are extremely excited to meet you and your family! Please reach out with any questions or concerns at any time. My door is always open! We are a team!
I am grateful to have the opportunity to work in such an amazing community, district, and building. I look forward to getting to know your family and begin the new school year.

It is our priority to ensure students receive the best education possible both academically and socially, and classroom placement plays a huge role in this process. As an educational team, we work together to create equitable and balanced class lists for each grade level. Careful consideration is always given to creating classrooms with input from staff, families and student learning styles to lay the groundwork for a successful school year.
.
Your child will be assigned two teachers: one teacher for math and one for teacher for ELA. We are departmentalized at OIS; this means we have teachers designated to certain content areas where they can become experts with the materials, state standards, instructional delivery, assessments, and so much more!
Class placement letters will be mailed out the week of August 7th, 2023!
The image below is what your child will find in the placement letter envelope.
The purpose of this handbook is to ensure students and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand and are willing to abide by our district and school policies, procedures and protocols thus allowing us to facilitate our mission of creating a safe, positive school environment that ensure academic, social and emotional growth for ALL learners.
In approximately one month students will be returning to the classrooms and hallways of the Osceola School District, which means it is time to complete this year’s (2023-2024) registration information. To ensure we have the most current information on your child, we ask that you complete the registration process in your Family Access account prior to the beginning of the school year (August 29).
Forms can be filled out on multiple devices, however, laptops and desktop computers work best. Please make sure to maximize the browser window and click on “View Full Screen” in Family Access to ensure you see the entire form.
Parents/guardians of returning Osceola Virtual Academy students should also complete the online registration process by logging into their Family Access accounts.
Online Registration is located in Family Access. Here is the link to the Skyward Family Access login page. You can also get to Family Access by navigating to the district website (www.osceola.k12.wi.us) and clicking on the Family Access login icon in the upper-right corner. If you do not remember your password, please click on Forgot your Login/Password? If you do not receive an email after clicking the link, please check your Spam folder.
Thank you in advance for completing your child’s online registration forms. Building administrative assistants will be returning on August 1 if you have any questions.

A message from Steve Leslie, Transportation Director
We strive to create conditions that contribute to the success of students by providing a comfortable, reliable, and safe service that responds to the ever-changing needs of the Osceola School Districts student population.
Approximately 1,800 students will attend school this year, and almost 1,400 of them will ride a bus to and from school. Our fleet of almost 30 buses will travel more than 400,000 miles this year either on school routes or extracurricular trips and consume more than 35,000 gallons of fuel.
In order to give needed attention to the ever-changing traffic situations, it is vital that drivers get full cooperation from their passengers and that all students obey the bus rules. Please help promote safety and good ridership by reviewing bus safety rules with your children along with familiarizing yourself with other resources and information on this website.
By working together we can safeguard your child from potential hazards associated with all aspects of transportation, both on and off the bus. I hope you and your child have a productive and safe year.
If you have a change in your child’s busing needs please call us 715-294-3456.
Thank you for your support!
2023-2024 Bus Information will be available on August 15th!
