A Message from the Superintendent
YCS Families,
The school board met Wednesday night and discussed moving from 6 feet to 3 feet distancing rule for students. Throughout this past year, our focus has been to return students back to in-person instruction when it is safe to do so. The board affirmed that going to a 3 foot rule would allow us to bring our hybrid students back safely.
Our intent is to bring back our hybrid students four days per week, in hopes to accelerate learning and remediate any achievement gaps that occurred during remote instruction. Wednesdays will continue to be REAL (Remote Education for All Learners) days.
These grade levels will return on the following dates.
April 22: K-2, 6, 9 and 12 will start 4 days per week
May 6: 3-5, 7-8, 10-11 will start 4 days per week
When we started hybrid, we said this was the first step to a return to normal. This is our next step. Not only will our students benefit greatly from more time in-person, it will give us strong experience as we prepare for a full reopening of school next fall.
We will be working over the next few weeks to shift transportation routes, food service delivery, and classroom configuration to support 3 feet distancing for students in the classroom and 6 feet distancing during meal times. Further details will be communicated after Spring Break.
As a community, we have done an amazing job following the health and safety guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID. Please continue these practices over the break so we can have a “Safe Start to Success” when we return April 12.
A few spring break reminders:
Meal service pick up will resume on April 14.
