UCM Future Teachers Academy
On October 5th, Cadet Teachers went to the University of Central Missouri's Future Teachers Academy in Warrensburg. Cadets attended several sessions, walked the campus, ate in a dining hall, and toured an on-campus dormitory. While there, we saw several former cadet teachers who are now freshman UCM students.

Coming Up in Cadet Teaching
Smithville Library Trip
- November 9th Mid-Continent Public Library Trip: On Thursday, November 9th, cadets will spend their 3A block at the Smithville Mid-Continent Library. Cadets will learn from Smithville's story-time reading specialist about the qualities that make a picture book a good read-aloud and share instructional strategies that make an effective story time.
Conversations with Your Kids:
Here are some great conversation starters you can have this weekend:
- What are some of the benefits of read-alouds for all aged learners?
- What books did you place on hold at the Mid-Continent Public Library?
- Tell me something you have enjoyed about your placement class recently.
Email a Host Teacher
If you want to send a quick "thank you" to a cadet's host teacher for their willingness to share their classroom with a cadet at any point this year, their school email addresses can be found here.
