Week at a Glance
Math- This week we explored elapsed time as well as measurement. Today we read a book where the author used comparisons to teach us about the biggest, smallest, and strongest animals. Next week we will measure math through investigation.
Writing- We have about 2 weeks left in our Narrative Writing Unit of Study. I wrote my own narrative and students have loved helping me revise my writing and improve as a writer. Be on the lookout for a writing celebration date soon. :)
Computer Science/Science- Today we explored electricity through the game Operation. Students were given various items and tested whether they were conductors of electricity or not. We had the following findings:
- light, sound, motion and electricity are all forms of energy
- when a light is dim or a sound is faint there is less energy present
- energy is the ability to create motion or cause a change
- sound, light and motion let us know energy is present!
Social Studies- We have continued to explore transportation and inventions to increase mobility. This week we read about and discussed how tunnels and bridges increase mobility. We also watched an episode of Marvel's Hero Project to see of an example of how even kids can make a change in the world when they see a problem.
