A Message from Ms. Piezas

Happy Autumn everyone! Please be sure to join us for our Fall Festival this Friday 6-8 pm here at the school. Plans are coming together, if you have the capacity, please volunteer.

Tuesday is a 1:30 release day. Our teachers will be hard at work making education better for all of our students.

Please make sure your child is reading every night for 20-30 minutes. This can be with you, someone in your family or even to the family pet. If you need books at home, reach out to your teacher. We are happy to provide them. Reading is the best homework.

Lost and found will be donated after school on Friday. Please remind your child to check for an items they may have lost.

We'll have a wonderful week!

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible

An apology is not a true apology if you are apologizing for the same actions over and over. When we apologize we make every effort to correct the wrong and not repeat it.

Do I have to apologize?

No, if you don't mean it then don't say it. If you need some time to reflect on what happened and how the other person felt, take that time. When you are ready to give a sincere apology, then we can move forward.

Do I have to accept their apology?

No, if you are still upset that is ok. Take some time to think about how you feel and when it feels comfortable you can accept the apology and move forward.

Morning Drop Off

Do not park in the driveway in front of the school during drop off. There is a safety issue created when parents wait with their students before 8:15. It forces parents to drive on the left side and drop students off into possibly moving traffic. If you would like to wait with your child until 8:15, park in outside of the driveway. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.

Absences and Tardies

Every school day is a day of learning for our students. It's important that students are in class on time and ready to learn. Our students line up at 8:33 and are in classrooms at 8:35.

Students entering the building from 8:35-8:45 will be greeted by our staff and given a tardy slip to take to class. After 8:45 students will report to the office to obtain a tardy slip.

If your child will not attend school on a particular day you may email cor.att@slzusd.org or call 510-317-4999. Please leave a voice mail. Our office checks it several times a day.

12 ways to help kids cope with school anxiety

Many of our students suffer anxiety. As a parent, I know how helpless we can feel when our children are suffering. Here is an article that talks about some things parents can do at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss your concerns. We want to help you and your child work through the anxiety and enjoy school.
