Mary's Mount Primary School
Term 4, Week 4 - 5 November 2021
PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents, Carers and friends of Mary’s Mount Primary School
On Monday 1 November, we joined in prayer to celebrate All Saints Day. It was delightful to have parishioners from the Holy Family Parish join us for Mass. The readings were read from the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, which enables the children to make deeper connections with Scripture. We have also introduced visual prompts to the Mass PowerPoint to support children to follow the Mass rituals.
Father Suresh spoke about how we should do ordinary things with great love. What a beautiful sentiment for us all to remember in the way we interact with others on a daily basis. I have been reflecting on this of late, treating others with dignity and respect is paramount.
OPEN NIGHT – SUCCESS
The Open Night was a huge success with the school receiving many affirming emails and messages of thanks. The school was a buzz with joy and connection. To everyone involved in making this the success it was, thank you!
OUTDOOR SACRED SPACE
The Outdoor Sacred Space will not be used for the next few weeks until the grass has a chance to grow and regenerate. The teachers cannot wait to use this space for reflection, Religious Education lessons and quiet contemplation, once Mr Gair gives us the green light.
P&F WELCOME CROSS – Unveiling
The Welcome Cross that the P&F have gifted to Mary’s Mount Primary School for the 100th Year will be unveiled on Monday morning at 8.50am. After you have dropped your children to class, please stay for this special moment. The children from Years 1 to 6 will be present for this. For those joining us for the Community meeting, we will head to the library at the conclusion of the unveiling.
MMPS COMMUNITY MEETING - 8 November, Monday
Two session times are available 9am for coffee and cake and conversation or 6pm for wine and cheese and conversation.
I am seeking your feedback and input on how we move forward as a community. The topics to be covered at both sessions are;
- School Uniforms
- Homework
- Climate Survey Data - help us form the School Improvement goals for 2022
- Early Years Outdoor Learning Environment
Andrew Thomas, the landscape designer who has developed the concept design for the Early Years Outdoor Learning space will be presenting the Mary's Mount Report at the 9am community meeting. I will be sharing this same information with those who can make the Community Meeting at 6pm.
Your attendance would be greatly appreciated and will value add to the decision-making processes.

P&F UPDATE
We are so pleased to announce that the 100 year anniversary gift from our MMPS P&F Association to the school is ready to be presented! Earlier this year the school advised us that they would like to move the statue of Mary down to the new Sacred Space, so our Committee was only too happy to purchase a special commemorative item that would take her place in front of the school office. Next Monday we will be unveiling a beautiful new cross that will sit proudly in this area, demonstrating the ongoing support and commitment of the parents and friends of MMPS to the school. We hope you can join us for the unveiling at 8.50am on Monday morning. A special thank you to Mr Derek Gair for building this impressive structure.
As this year quickly comes to an end, so too does the time for some of our P&F Executive team members to be a part of the P&F Committee. In the coming weeks we'll be looking for some fresh faces to take on some lead roles in the P&F as three of our members have exhausted their two year maximum term in their roles (which is part of our P&F constitution). The P&F is a wonderful group that provides much support to our school in many different ways. The time commitment of members is just 1-2 short meetings per term, and various tasks throughout the year. We have changed much of our initiatives to be on-line and with year groups now managing most P&F events it's a much easier role to take on. Our Committee is proactive, positive and lots of fun, a great way to meet people and make a real difference to our school. If you'd like more information on how to become involved please contact Anna Oakley on 0418921462, or you can email us. Committee positions will be nominated at the upcoming P&F AGM on 23rd November.
Yours in education,
MMPS P&F Committee
