CCA Chapel: Hope Outdoors
Hope Outdoors Central Missouri Chapter is an outreach program that ministers to individuals with special needs and medical illnesses through outdoor experiences. Randy and Tiffany Thornton, parents of CCA 6th grader, Allie, spoke at chapel today about Hope Outdoors.
Randy, a plumber by trade, was able to take his love for hunting to the mission field when Hope Outdoors was launched four years ago. Families who have individuals with special needs and medical illnesses can go on hunting adventures locally or out-of-state with volunteers through Hope Outdoors for the purpose of lifting burdens by giving them one good day. Randy said that building a community where individuals can come and be shown love, and have a group to pray over them and give them hope and encouragement during difficult times, is what the mission is all about.
Hope Outdoors is funded by proceeds from fundraisers and individuals. They will have an upcoming event at Cody's Bait Shop in Warsaw that CCA will let you know about. Seen in pictures below is a track chair, and this is just one piece of equipment that makes the hunting excursions possible.
If you know someone who would benefit from Hope Outdoors, or if you would like to volunteer to help with their hunting adventures, check out their Facebook page: Hope Outdoors Central MO Chapter or Randy Thornton.

Alumni Spotlight: Kady Bateman
She went to Clinton High School and graduated in 2018. Her parents are Gustin and Kristy Bateman and she has 2 sisters, Taylor and Kylie, who currently attend CCA. Kady also has one tortoiseshell cat named Norah. She goes to Missouri State University and plans to graduate in 2024. She has changed her major a few times and says to make sure you invest time in things you enjoy and can see yourself doing in the future.
Kady’s favorite verse is 1 Peter 4:8 which reads, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” She enjoys traveling, playing with her cat, taking photos and videos, and visiting all the coffee and tea shops in her town. Kady works at Starbucks in Springfield, MO. Her advice to current CCA High School students is to appreciate the laid back, easygoing times you have in high school. She says that the future will come and will be good too, but there’s many things to enjoy about where you are now! --Taylor
