TEAM UP TO CLEAN UP
Every Monday after drop off starting on 10/17/22, we will plan a 15 minute clean up around our playground, weather permitting. We have noticed a lot of litter on the playground after weekends and would appreciate your partnership. If you are a parent, guardian, or community member who has a few minutes to help clean up some litter, join us on the playground around 8:20 AM and we will provide gloves and trash bags. Thank you for supporting us in keeping our school grounds beautiful and safe for our students and families. We appreciate you!
Farewell from YMCA Coordinator Josh Fidler
Please see below for a farewell letter from our Boone/YMCA after school coordinator Josh Fidler, who will be moving on to another role in the YMCA organization. We thank Josh for all his work with our community over the past couple of years, and wish him well in the new position!
Dear Boone Community,
It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. I wanted to share with you that I recently received a promotion within the YMCA CSI team and will soon be transitioning into my new role as a Program Director. I am thankful for the last two and a half years that I have been at Boone. During that time, I have done my best to engrain myself within this community. To make connections within the families, staff, and students. To hear your needs. To provide resources and opportunities to meet those needs.
Some of you may know me from coat distributions or back to school events passing out school supply kits. You may have seen me in the hallways at Boone. Or maybe your students participated in an after school program. Maybe we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. Whatever the situation may be, I hope you know how privileged I have felt being a part of this community. Working with you, your students, and the faculty at Boone has been a great pleasure.
In our YMCA CSI after school programs, I often harp on the theme of community. I want to instill this sense of belonging and ownership in each of my students. I want them to feel empowered and responsible for each space they are in. I believe that when our students embrace this sense of community, they will feel an intrinsic sense of motivation to better themselves and those around them. I believe that that is what all of you have done for me. I have developed a connection with this community and because of that I have strived to do more, to help more, to be more.
It is with this notion of helping more people that I look to the next chapter of my career and embark on this journey. I am grateful that I will still be connected to Boone in my new role and hopeful that I can maintain my connections with the people that work so hard to improve the lives of those that make up this community. I will work closely with the new YMCA CSI Program Manager at Boone to ensure that the needs and desires of this community are heard and acted upon. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this wonderful community.
Best,
Josh Fidler
Mejor, Josh Fidler

COVID-19 Weekly Testing
CPS will continue to offer free, weekly in-school COVID-19 testing to students and staff who are interested. Importantly, anyone who wants to enroll in testing this year will need to fill out an updated consent form — regardless of whether or not you participated in weekly testing last year. That updated consent form can be accessed here. Consent forms from last school year or this summer will not be valid for the 2022–23 school year. However, once a student or staff member has consented this year, that consent will remain in place until they leave CPS.
