Interims October 3rd
The mid point of the first nine weeks or interim date is 10/3/22. It is a good time to check Parent/StudentVue to see your students progress. Please contact the teacher directly with questions and concerns.
With the last Day of Marking Period 1 as Thursday 10/28/22 please review upcoming events for your student as the fall all can be a very busy time for our students.

PSAT Pre-Admin Day is October 6 in Advisory
Pre-Administration saves time on test day by having students answer their survey questions and demographic information ahead of time. All 9th grade students will be taking the Digital PSAT 8/9 on October 12, and Pre-Admin will allow them to interact and practice using the testing interface ahead of time. All 9th graders need to bring a charged LCPS device and their charger on Pre-Admin Day AND test day! Any student who attends the Academies or is absent on October 6 will do their survey questions during breaks or in the library after testing on October 12.

Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition
Encourages middle and high school youth, across the county to identify an issue in their school, neighborhood or community, create a plan to address that issue, and implement the plan. The goal is to encourage, support and reward the youth of Loudoun County for making positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others. This annual competition runs from early fall through late spring. This is great to have on any resume or college application.
- Identify and address issues around you that you believe could be better
- Develop crucial critical thinking, presentation and communication skills
- Learn planning and execution skills needed to affect community change
- Demonstrate community leadership
- Interact with judges that can include corporate leaders, government officials and members of the media

Students may register for the CTT through the Language Assessment Reporting System (LARS). The link is found under the Student Opportunities portal in LCPSGO. A confirmation ticket will be sent to the student and the parent/ guardian email on file.
Loudoun County Public Schools allows students with the ability to comprehend and communicate in languages other than English, to earn high school credits through State-approved world language assessments. The Credit Through Testing (CTT) exam measures students’ language proficiency in order to award one, two, or three high school world language credits.
2023 Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s Schools
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS:
LCPS students interested in the 2023 Visual and Performing Arts Governor’s School must participate in our local preliminary audition for selection to attend the state level audition. The 2023 LCPS Preliminary Audition will be IN-PERSON, by appointment, on October 31, 2022, at Stone Bridge High School.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened Oct 1. Please take the time to fill this out even if you believe you will not qualify. Some colleges use the FAFSA as part of scholarship applications to verify information.

2021-2022 Indicator 8 Parent Involvement Survey
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is asking for families who have a child with a disability and adult students with a disability and are provided special education services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to participate in the 2021-2022 Indicator 8 Parent Involvement Survey. The online survey is now open and available for completion in English and Spanish at the following websites until December 16, 2022:

Families who have more than one child receiving special education services are requested to complete a survey for each of their children.

The PTSO extends special wishes for our Jewish students, families, and staff in celebrating the high Jewish holidays.
- Rosh Hashanah is a two-day festival marking the anniversary of human’s creation—and the special relationship between humans and God, the creator.
- Yom Kippur means “Day of Atonement” in Hebrew and is the holiest Jewish holiday of the year and is a day about asking God to forgive sins, reflecting on past mistakes accepting repentance, and praying.
- G'mar chatima tova” is the customary greeting on Yom Kippur and means “May you be sealed in the Book of Life.”

Parents/guardians as we enter cold and flu season and continued COVID, please keep your student home if they have any of the following symptoms.
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Cough
- Runny nose/congestion
- Fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting
- Fever
Please remember your student is to be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. If your student has even one of the above symptoms, please consider doing a COVID test.
