Reopening School in August

Springdale Students, Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,

Springdale Schools will be prepared for the 2020-2021 school year with a safe, innovative, educational environment where a culture of caring will consistently be on display. Our Springdale School Board and family of educators want our parents and students to know you have choices in the delivery of instruction in your district. We encourage on-site learning for students; however, you have a blended learning option.

Blended learning options include:

3 days of on-site and 2 days remote
2 days on-site and 3 days remote.

Additionally, Springdale Schools is offering a K-12 virtual learning option through VIA DTSOI for interested students and families. Regardless of the educational options you select, Springdale Schools will provide the highest quality, personalized education experience for your child. The health, safety, and well-being of each student, teacher, and support staff is our top priority.

Springdale Public Schools will follow guidelines provided by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The use of personal protective equipment, physical distancing where possible, and in-depth cleaning and sanitizing procedures will be implemented throughout the school day, at school sponsored activities, and on school buses.

Under direction of Governor Asa Hutchinson, school will resume with onsite, blended, and virtual learning no later than August 26.

The Springdale administration, in concert with the personnel policy committee made up of teacher representatives from each school, is currently working on considerations for an alternative 2020-2021 Academic Calendar for the school board to consider at the July 14th regularly scheduled school board meeting. Additionally, the school board will consider appropriate use of face coverings throughout the school district. The school board will be meeting on Tuesday, July 14th beginning at 5:00pm. Hand Sanitizer Stations Will be installed in every classroom. Students will use hand sanitizer every time they move from one area to another.	Touchless Water Bottle Filling Stations Will be installed throughout the School District. Water fountains will no longer be used. Disinfecting Surfaces

Sanitation and cleanliness is a high priority in the Springdale School District. Classrooms, buses, restrooms, and frequently touched surfaces (door knobs...) will be cleaned continuously throughout the school day. We have continued to purchase disinfectant sprays to quickly sanitize rooms between usage.


Onsite Learning Under direction of Governor Asa Hutchinson, school will begin with onsite, face to face instruction no later than August 26 ‎‎ The safety of children and adults is of utmost priority. Current guidelines can be located in the above links regarding the district plan. Additional information will be released closer to school starting. Onsite instruction would shift to remote learning in the event there is a school or classroom closure due to Covid-19. Remote learning will occur online. Students will be provided with technology and supplies in the event of closure. The district is currently working on a plan to support Wifi access as well. ‎ For more information on the safety measure we are implementing in our buildings, see the section on safety.	Blended Learning Parents may choose a blend of on-site instruction at their zoned school and remote learning. In this learning model, students will be involved in asynchronous remote learning. Parents will communicate to the school their plan for blended learning. ‎ *-Asynchronous Online Learning* - Methods of asynchronous online learning include self-guided lesson modules, streaming video content, virtual libraries, posted lecture notes, and exchanges across discussion boards or social media platforms.	Virtual Learning Virtual learning is available through our Virtual Innovation Academy* (VIA) at Don Tyson School of Innovation (DTSOI), which is open to grades Kindergarten through 12th.* *Kindergarten - 5th grade* Elementary students enrolled in VIA engage in both synchronous and asynchronous online learning models. Methods of asynchronous online learning include self-guided lesson modules, streaming video content, and virtual libraries. Methods of synchronous online learning include small group instruction, one on one conferencing, and read aloud. ‎ *6th - 12th grade* Secondary students enrolled in VIA, engage in an asynchronous online learning model. Methods of asynchronous online learning include self-guided lesson modules, streaming video content, virtual libraries, posted lecture notes, and exchanges across discussion boards or social media platforms. Due to the 100% asynchronous online learning model, VIA DTSOI’s instructional model is not impacted by COVID-19. ‎ You must enroll by July 31, 2020.
