Brain Awareness Seminar on Thursday!

On Thursday, the Brain Awareness Campaign will be visiting FSA's first and second graders! We are very excited to learn all about our brain and the neat things it can do!

Dr. Seuss Day Fun!

Our class had a blast exploring the different Dr. Seuss Day centers, and we looked pretty spiffy in our "thing smart" shirts! (Hold onto those shirts, because I want to do something special with them at the end of the year!)

Students read Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, and The Lorax! Our room hosted Green Eggs and Ham - a big shout out and thank you to London and Orion's moms for making our room spectacular for elementary!

A Peek at this Week...

Reading/Language Arts: We are looking at the "oo" sound in moon, using -ly and -ful suffixes, writing directions, and exploring cause and effect, sensory details, and author's purpose.
Spelling Words: slowly, careful, quickly, useful, painful, playful, sadly, gladly, nicely, wonderful, across, because, dance, only, opened, shoes, told

Science: We are wrapping up our unit on matter. We have learned all about states and matter and how they change, physical and chemical changes, and mixtures. We will have our test on Friday.

Social Studies: We have been learning about American heroes (George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington Carver, Sacagawea, Lewis and Clark, and Harriett Tubman). We will be wrapping this up this week and will have a quick on these historical figures on Tuesday of next week.
