A Note from the Principal

We are in full swing with our Social-Emotional Framework focus for this semester. In November we talked about the importance of FIVE adults who love and care for your children and have high expectations for them. Last month we spoke on the need to make sure your children can identify these adults and the adults themselves know the role they play in your child's life.

This month = "STRINGS" Strings stand for the tangible (things we can measure; food, sleep, clothing, activities) and intangible (integrity, kindness, respect, self-discipline) skills that ALL of our kids need to learn. Every adult in your child's web is responsible for helping to teach and monitor these strings. Are you an anchor in your child's web? If so, what tangible or intangible strings are you intentionally helping them learn? Who are the other anchors you have identified? Have you talked with them about the various strings/skills that you need their help teaching your child? #webup Our kids deserve strong webs!

Falcon Firestorm is on the Move

Firestorm Team Competes Feb. 10th

We are super proud of our robotics team, Falcon Firestorm. This team has been meeting for months, working on robot building, programming and research. On January 20th they competed in Ft. Wayne in their first ever competition. They took home second place out of 45 teams! They were also awarded first place in the STEM research competition and missed state qualification by just 20 points. To say we are proud of this crew is an understatement. They will compete once again this Saturday, February 10th at Mississinewa. Good Luck Firestorm! We are proud of you!

ISTEP Testing Coming Soon

February kicks off the debut of 2018 ISTEP. We'll be using an Olympic theme to prep and celebrate our completion of ISTEP. Students in grades 3-5 will test February 26th through March 9th. Third Grade students will continue testing with the IREAD-3 test March 12th through the 16th.

(Part 2 of ISTEP will take place after Spring Break, April 16th through May 4th)

Please remember these testing tips as we support our students:

1) 8-10 hours of sleep is recommended on days of testing.

2) Eating a healthy breakfast will help students to be alert and ready to test.

3) Encourage your students and remind them how great they are. This test does NOT define them!
