Treacher-Collins Syndrome

What is it?
Treacher- Collins Syndrome is when you only have 5 chromosomes in their cell not 46 like a normal body. The reason why is because this thing called TCOF1. This is when the TCOF1 starts deleting some of the chromosomes when you are a baby before birth. So, most of the chromosomes in your face are not there. So, it kind of brings your face down
What can the doctor do?
There are few things that doctor can do to help with this disease. One example is that you can get surgery on your face to bring it up. Also you can choose just to do nothing and they might be fine. But if there is something wrong that is with your health then you can as I said before you can get surgery but that is the best solution.
To help make it feel better
There are something that can help make it feel better. One example is, to get an x ray for your ears to see what is wrong so then the doctors can help. Also, when you are around 6 to 8 years old you can get your ears changed to a different shape to make them look better and feel better. And last is what to do with your jaw and teeth. One thing you can do is have surgery when you are 4 to 7 years of age.

Some interesting facts about this disease is that first of all, it affects one out of 5,000 babies. Also, another fact about treacher collins syndrome is that there are other names for it. One is Franceschetti-Zwahlen-Klein syndrome. Another one is Mandibulofacial dysostosis. Isn't that cool!
