Weekly Spotlight On MPHS!

Dr. B's Weekly Update: 2/9/2018

MPHS First Year Forensics: Victorious!

This year, MPHS competed in the Region B Forensics (speech & debate) competition for the first time ever! Students chose topics like poetry reading, dramatic interpretation, and impromptu speaking and prepared for months to present at Thursday's meet. In the end, MPHS came 2 points from placing as a team and 6 of our entrants placed individually. Congratulations to Ariana Sacendo and Jesisca Lapid - 1st place Duo Interp; Jackie Coreas - 2nd place Original Oratory; Daniella Gonzalez - 3rd place Dramatic Interp; Sindy Gonzalez - 3rd place Poetry Reading; Morgan Foster - Prose - and Josh Hernandez - Impromptu - both placed 4th in their events making them Alternates for Super Regions! Best of luck to these students as they move on to the next round, and Congrats to Melanie Houston, their sponsor, who brought her Forensics background to MPHS and jumped in with both feet!

SGA's "WE ARE" Campaign: Celebrating MPHS's Diversity!

Students created posters that represented their identities. Then, they signed the ones with which they identified the most. Dancers, Love, Teachers, Athletes, Rock Stars, Latinos....Posters will be displayed for the upcoming Multi-Cultural Night, February 16th.

Staff Spotlight!

Crystal Wallace came to Manassas Park HS after teaching middle school math for nine years in Prince William County. She was looking for a new challenge and absolutely loves algebra! She has two high school daughters of her own at home and one older son. In the evenings she gets to work on Algebra 1 homework with Lily and Algebra 2 homework with Emily and also spends evenings working with the GED programs for both school systems.

Welcome to MPHS, Ms Wallace!
