MJS Weekly Update
Week of October 25, 2019
Dear MJS Families:
Next week, we will acknowledge Red Ribbon Week which is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation. MJS students will participate in theme days which can be found in the announcements. We will kick off the week with a pajama day. I want to thank Mrs. Siso and Mrs. Marotta for putting together a fun week to spread awareness about drug prevention and safety. This week students also voted on my and the office staff’s Halloween costume. Pokemon won the student vote.
This week, a representative from the Morris County Vocational Technical School District visited MJS to provide an overview of their programs to our eighth grade students. I want to thank our counselors for organizing that presentation. Mr. Spelker led our seventh grade students on a local tour of Hillside Cemetery to discuss Madison history. The talk supported our historical fiction unit. I want to thank Mr. Spelker for taking time out of his day to meet with our students and Mrs. Toto and Mrs. Henry for coordinating the activity.
Next week, we will be celebrating Halloween. Here are the guidelines for Thursday, October 31. Captain Nunn from the Madison Fire Department will be visiting MJS on October 30 to discuss fire prevention through grade level assemblies.
Next week’s students’ announcements are available here. For information regarding PTO activities, please click here. The Madison Education Foundation will be holding an adult social on November 1. Information and registration can be found here.
As we move forward, please keep the following dates in mind:

Finally, there will be a Halloween Social tonight for seventh and eighth grade students between 7:00-9:00 PM. Students need a permission slip to attend which can be found here. We will use the established traffic pattern for pick up. I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween next week and enjoys it with their family and children. I’m looking forward to next Thursday!
