The HT defense would stiffen in the second quarter and allowed just two points. April Hooks scored a pair of baskets in the quarter as the lead was trimmed to 20-17 as the teams went to halftime.

Hooks and Audre Benson hit back-to-back three point shots early in the third quarter to give the Huskies their first lead. Benson would connect on two more shots from behind the arc in the third quarter as the Huskies raced to a 39-28 lead. Sparkman would close the gap to six points in the final quarter, but Amiya Payne iced the game with free throws.
