Biddeford Primary School Newsletter

February 9, 2022

Greetings Families,

The Biddeford Primary School has an awesome group of parents and staff members that make up our Parent Council, and they are working on a special project for our teachers. If you are interested in more information please email Joanna Roberge at bpsparentcouncil916@gmail.com. She will reply and give you details about the project, and you can determine if you and your family would like to be part of it.

Friday is our 100th day of school! Our school celebrates 100 days of success with fun learning activities. Check out our Facebook page for pictures this weekend.

Our NWEA testing window has closed. I would like to give a big shout-out to all our students for their efforts towards assessments. In addition, I am proud of the work of our teachers as they review and deeply reflect on student learning and achievement. Please reach out to your child’s teacher and connect on academic achievement at any time.

Warmly,

Margaret Pitts

ReadtoME

During February, our schools promote literacy through the ReadtoME Challenge so be sure to read to/with a child for at least 15 minutes. Snap a photo or short video (15-30 seconds) and post with your challenge to others to read aloud for 15 minutes to a child they know. Use hashtags #ReadtoME or #ReadaloudME and tag others.

BPS Spotlight

This Week's BPS Spotlight is Mrs. Thompson!

Mrs. Thompson is one of the first people you will see when you drive up to BPS each morning as she welcomes our children with a smile and warm greeting. As our EL (English Language) teacher, Mrs. Thompson creates a strong connection with her students and their families; taking the initiative to help eliminate any barriers. Mrs. Thompson has been in education for 33 years taking on roles as a social worker, teaching principal, Title I teacher, and gifted and talented teacher in grades K-8. She brings great ideas, resources, and experiences to the entire BPS team! Mrs. Thompson is a great asset to our BPS family and district!

Somedays at BPS

What is a Someday? A Someday is when a student or staff member is asked to select something they would like to see happen at school before the end of the year. Students and staff choose something fun and meaningful to them and our BPS team works together to give them this special moment before the end of the school year.
