8th grade survival guide!

How to survive Ms.Criswell’s class & Spanish. (Tips 1&2)
Ms.Criswell is different from every teacher that I have ever met. My first impression of her did me no good. At first, I thought that she would be like every other teacher and focus on us knowing the difference between their, there, and they’re and to read every day. She wants us to know and do those things but she’s way different. Anyways, to survive her class, you need to turn in all the assignments with 100% effort and she will be happy with you. You will know when she is frustrated when she says, “mooch calente moo my my.” Yup. She has her own language, and it’s weird. One last thing is you have to not be scared to talk to survive her class. She will call on you when you least expect it and you will have to do Socratic discussions (fish bowl talks.) Spanish is definitely hard and nerve racking. It will take you being willing to study and to be brave. After every unit their will be a a huge test that has like 4 sections to it. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Speaking, speaking, speaking. If you think doing a presentation makes you nervous you just wait. You will have to speak in front of the whole class and teacher multiple times through out the year. I did about 10 or 11 times. I feel like if you do your homework and study you will be able to pass her class and get some credits for high school. These are the basic things you will need to survive their classes.
My regrets of 8th grade & drama. (Tips 3&4)
I don’t have a lot of regrets but the ones that I do have seem necessary to share. Number one, definitely the one that I regret the most. Are you ready? I definitely regret not doing any clubs. I feel like it is a really easy way to make as many friends as possible and to have fun. If you like sports, go for it. If not, find a club that you would enjoy and do it. You’ll be glad that you did. Secondly, I regret not trying harder. Try your hardest. At the end of the semester you will be glad that you did. Study for every test and turn in all your work. Now for drama. Honestly, I didn’t ever get into any drama and neither should you. The only thing that I can tell you is to not hang around people that are always involved in drama and then expect to not be pulled in.
Studying,Homework, and grades. (Tips 5,6,7)
Studying is something that is essential for passing 8th grade. I wasn’t consistent at studying but I should’ve been. I think that if you studying before every test, actually trying, you can do very well. Homework is something that none of us like but is something that you need and have to do. Just missing homework itself can dramatically drop a grade more than you think. Also, for homework, find the easy way around things. If you need help with homework or need a study guide, you can ask the teachers and I guarantee that they would be more than happy to help you. Last topic is grades. What I’ve learned to keep good grades is to start off strong. If you start off bad, it is really hard to get it back up. Starting off strong is something that I’ve learned to do and will try to do in high school. Also, if you end strong then you will be fine. These are my 7 tips to survive 8th grade, hope you enjoyed and took notes.
