Language Works/Writing
Learn the song "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"
Read the Stories: "Froggy Plays T-Ball" and "Pete the Cat Play Ball"
Science Rocks
Collect a number of balls of different sizes and weights. Explain to the children how to drop the balls to see which one hits the ground first. The children will predict which one they think will hit the ground first or if both will hit at the same time.
Sensory/Water/Sand
Place a large piece of cardboard that has two holes in the sensory table. The children will use the holes as a target to toss bean bags and paper. This exercise promotes eye/hand coordination.
Art Smart (Centers/experiences)
The children will create a baseball lacing craft. We will provide them with yarn and paper plates for this project.
Math Counts / Manipulatives
Play baseball bingo using cards with the numbers 1 - 20. Use small pieces of paper to cover the numbers on the cards. This activity will help work on number recognition.
Dramatic Play / Housekeeping
Add hats, shirts, balls, and paper to the cash register to print receipts. We will encourage children to create a sporting goods store.
