The Hoot Owl
MAY
Notes from the principal
As we move into May, it is full of academic and fun activities all mixed together. We need your help in ending the year on a strong note. This time of year students begin to see summer break in the near future and start to "check out" of school. We need them to stay engaged, come to school daily and behave in class so that they can get the best learning possible. We know that if we work together, we can finish this year strong!
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK - MAY 3 - 7
As you think about your child's teacher, we want to encourage you to also remember our Specials teachers, Mrs. Moran - art; Ms. Richeson - music; Mr. Rodriguez - pe, and Mrs. Falcon - librarian.
MAY LUNCHES
STAAR TESTING
Please make sure and send them with tp school with their snack and lunch. We will not be able to interrupt testing and deliver snacks and/or lunch.
Make up testing will be on May 13 and 14 for those who miss one or both of the scheduled days listed above.
20 - 21 YEARBOOKS
Please purchase them at http://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A09884448
KINDER/FOURTH GRADE DRIVE THRU PARADE
This event will take place on Saturday, May 22 from 9-10:30 a.m. We will have our front driveway decorated in honor of our kinder and fourth graders.
EARLY REGISTRATION
Current Owls are automatically rolled over to the next year so if your child is currently attending ORE, you do not need to enroll them again. You will, however, receive a code in late summer asking you to update information.

PTO
The joint new board/old board PTO Meeting will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. A link will be sent out before the meeting as well as posted on ORE and PTO Facebook pages.
Please consider participating in our PTO for the 21-22 school year. The current board has done amazing things for our school remotely and we look forward to having you all on campus next school year.
Below is the link for the nomination form.
Reminders...
*Dress Code - As the weather turns warmer and you bring out those summer shorts from last year, please check them on your child. Most children have grown an inch or two since the start of school and those once long enough shorts, skirts and even shirts, might no longer be long enough. We want them to be comfortable and covered.
*Tardies - start at 8:01 a.m. We are seeing an increase of tardies with over 30 students almost daily. Teachers start lessons right at 8:00 and if your child comes in after that, they are missing valuable education. Please do your best to adjust your schedule to leave a few minutes early and have your child here before 8:00. Our doors open at 7:35.
*Breakfast line closes at 8:05 a.m. If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, please try to have them here about 7:45 a.m. so that they can get their food and finish eating before learning starts.
*Car rider line entrance is between Saltgrass and the hotel. Right turn lane from our driveway is blocked so you will be forced to turn left and join at the end of the line.
*Lunches - We are still not accepting lunches dropped off at school. If your child forgets their lunch for the day, they can eat free in the cafeteria.
*Visitors - At this time we are allowed minimal visitors on campus. Visitors are not allowed in areas where students are. We are opening up a few opportunities to our PTO Board members only at this point.
*Transportation Changes - If you need to change your child's transportation home, we ask that you send a note to the child's teacher in the morning. Calling the front office is reserved for emergencies only.
*Masks - Students are still expected to be wearing a mask while at school so please do your best to make sure they have one on a daily basis.
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
For those who are virtual, feeding locations have changed for picking up lunches. Pick up will now be at Irons Junior High School off Hwy 242. Pick up dates are still Tuesday and Thursday.
