Get Lit! Poetry in motion
Title III Coaches have been in our middle schools supporting the implementation of the Get-Lit program. They have been working in classrooms assisting teachers with strategies that support our English Language Learners' listening, speaking, reading and writing. Through the process of learning and writing poetry, these students have tapped into their talents!
A culmination "Poetry Slam" will be shared with parents at the end of the semester at each school. Contact Juliane Prager: juliane.prager@lausd.net or John Terrien: jmr3396@lausd.net for additional information.
ELPAC
Our Title III Coaches have been very busy this past month! They have been laser-focused on supporting all schools and students in preparation for the English Learner Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) that all our English Learners will take beginning this month. They have visited countless schools and provided support to EL Designees, administrators, teachers, and most importantly, students. They have met with staff to conduct professional development, share best practices and lesson plans. They have modeled lessons for teachers and have worked directly with students. They are happy to report that the students are doing great!
As always, if you have a need regarding support for your English Language Learners please reach out to our amazing Title III coaches who are eager to help support your students.

Turn your clocks ahead on March 13
March 13 is Daylight Savings!
In the United States, daylight saving time lasts for a total of 34 weeks, running from early-to-mid March to the beginning of November in those states that observe it.
In 2022, daylight saving time will start on March 13, more than a full week before the official start of spring. Daylight saving time will end on Nov. 6.
Under the conditions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November, representing an extension from previous years.
Adjusting the time affects our bodies and mind. Click here to read more about how you can help your family prepare for the change so there is no disruption. Click on the link on the image below.
