#TogetherWeFly Update for Armstrong High School 1/22/2021

Mr. Norby's Update

Dear AHS Students and Families,

We are very excited that today closes out our semester 1 for the 2020-21 school year. Our students have worked extremely hard during this semester and are consistently adapting to our current circumstances, as we have had to make many changes this school year. With that being said, we are proud of all our students at AHS. Our teachers have worked around the clock teaching, grading, building relationships, and looking for ways to help all students earn their credits. We thank them for all their hard work in semester 1. We would like to thank you as parents for partnering with us at AHS, we know this has been a unique and challenging semester for parents as well.

With the close of semester 1 and semester 2 starting Tuesday, January 26th, we encourage you to spend sometime over the weekend with your students to discuss how semester 1 went and talk about the fresh start to semester 2. Ask your student what went well this semester, and what goals they might want to set, or how they can ask for help when they need assistance. We are asking all students in 9th-12th grade to check their Schoology account daily, as well as their school email. Your student can assist you, as a parent, and show you how they communicate with their teachers at AHS.

Once again we want to thank our students, teachers, staff, and our families for partnering with us here at AHS. We look forward to semester 2.

Have a safe, and restful weekend.

1st Semester Grading Information

Due to the continuation of the Distance Learning Plus Model, we will be implementing a grading system which will not negatively affect a students GPA. This will be in place for 1st semester grades only.

  • Students with an A or a B in class will receive the letter grade.
  • Students that have earned a C or a D will receive a P (Pass) for the course. This will not impact the students GPA.
  • Students that have earned an NC in a course will have their grade changed to a DLNP (Distance Learning No Pass) This will not negatively impact a students GPA. The student will still not receive credit for the course.

These changes will be made for students, families don't need to opt into this option.

If Students want to receive a C or a D letter grade instead of a P, please contact your grade level counselor.
