Bowling takes home Section V Brick!
Section V bowling Sectionals were held at AMF Gates Lanes on February 26th and 27th. Webster Thomas competed in A Division.
The girls team competed on the 27th and finished in first place, taking home the Division A trophy and individual metals and patches. Team Captain Cassidy Anschutz lead the team scoring with a 213 average over the six games. Cassidy Potter averaged 196, Mikah McDonnell, Alissa Dudkiewicz and Caitlyn Anschutz all averaged over 160.
Cassidy Anschutz was also named to the All Tournament Team. Both Cassidy Anschutz and Cassidy Potter will be competing on the Section V Composite Team at the States March 9th in Syracuse. Both girls earned their way onto the composite team for their 200 plus averages during the regular season.
The boys competed on the 26th and finished in eighth place. Jack Fulton averaged 181, Brady Zenns and Alex Hussar both finished with a 180 average over the six game tournament. Evan Schreiber had his season high game of 172

Cheerleading at RIT for States
The Thomas Cheer Team Qualified for the State Cheer Competition being held Saturday 3/2 on the Campus of RIT. They finished second to Fairport in the Coed Large School Division on Saturday 2/23 which Qualified them for States. They will be competing this Saturday 3/2 at RIT in the State Tournament at 12:00.
Indoor Track Athletes Continue to Dominate!
Indoor Track
State qualifiers were held over the break and three of our Track and Field Athletes qualified for the States this coming weekend.
Girls 4x800 relay: Elena Ziskind, Katherine Peterson, Lia Kowlaski and Haley Brennan- Class A champs
Monique Hardy- shot put and weight throw Class A Champion in both. She set a school record at sectionals in shot put with a 41 foot throw. At State Qualifier she won both events and will continue onto the state meet in Staten Island. She re-broke her shot put record with a 41'11.5" throw.
Sean Smith- Class A champion in the weight throw, 2nd in the shot put. Set a school record in the weight throw at 62' and then re-broke that at State Qualifiers where he finished 1st with a throw of 66'.75".
Jonah Dean- Finished 3rd at Sectionals and then 3rd at State Qualifiers where he placed high enough and ran a state qualifying time to advance to the state meet.
Monique and Sean will compete then at Nationals in their events and Jonah will compete in the 200m.

Chrissy Wolford was the top female finisher for Webster. She finished 7th in class A Alpine Ski Sectionals with a time of 1:25.49 (7)
Wrestling
CJ Lee Wrestled in the the State Wrestling Tournament which will was held in Albany NY February 22nd and 23rd. He went. Please add that CJ Lee went 1-2 at the States Losing his third match 4-3 in the final seconds. What an outstanding Westling career for CJ

Webster Programmers Rock!
Saturday 2/23, Webster students competed in the first annual girls programming contest at Cornell university. Schroeder student Allison Lisciandro's team finished in second place and Thomas student Alessandra Visca's team finished in third place.
The contest is an educational event open to all high school girls. The contest lasted for two hours and featured a collection of problems ranging from very easy to medium hard.
Problems consisted of determining quadrants of points, a word game to teach children about division, analyzing the lines for free food, playing Simon says, researching tree rings, teach discipline through Game of Throwns, moving a robot on a grid, and avoiding detention by telling the truth to Professor Umbridge.

An event for all ages, showcasing student artwork, musical performances, community groups, arts and crafts vendors, kids craft stations, the YMCA carnival, Webster’s Got Talent Show, breakfast, lunch, snacks and sweet treats!

All of the funds raised from this event go back to Webster’s 11 schools for arts education.

College Night hosted at Schroeder HS - March 6th @ 6:00pm

Teen Police Academy - The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department runs a week long teen police academy over the summer. If you are interested in applying to be a candidate, please stop in the Counseling Center for a application. There will be an interview process for selected candidates. Deadline to hand in the application to the Counseling Center is Friday, March 8th.
Juniors - SAT information for Saturday, March 9th - If you are taking the SAT on Saturday, March 10th, please arrive to Thomas by 7:30. Staff will be on hand to direct you. Juniors - awards are available for the following colleges: Clarkson, Dartmouth, Elmira, Furman, Keuka, RIT, St. Lawrence, U of R, Wells and the University of Albany. Applications are due back to the Counseling Center no later than Thursday, March 15th.
Sophomores - The PreACT is a practice ACT exam that we offer sophomores in the spring. The exam is held here at Thomas on Saturday, March 16th from 7:30-11:30. The cost is $13.00 by check payable to WTHS. Registration forms are available in the Counseling Center and are due back by Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

Juniors - University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics summer program
Students with strong math and science skills are encouraged to apply. Applications for juniors interested in this summer program are available at the following website www.lle.rochester.edu Deadline to apply is March 18th.
Seniors - The Common Application for Senior Awards is available in the Counseling Center. These awards are given out at the Senior Award Night in June. All applications are due in the Counseling Center no later than 2:30 on Friday, March 29, 2019.
Sophomores & Juniors - The ASVAB exam is a multi aptitude exam for high school students that helps align your skills with your interests. This exam may help you explore future career goals regardless of your plans after high school. This free exam will be held at Thomas on March 30, 2019
Sophomore & Juniors - University of Rochester Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences - Photon Camp - Photon Camp is a FREE one week program where you may explore the growing field of optics and optical engineering.
