CFPA Council News

Winter 2018

Welcome!

This is the first issue of the CFPA Council News! We are excited to share with you the latest information and activities.

Introduction

Dear CFPA Community,

We would like to thank all the students, parents/guardians and faculty that have help create the CFPA Council. The CFPA Council hopes to become a CFPA Council with a 501c3 status and continue to grow to support the CFPA Program at Colgan High School.

Together we are building a financial base that will provide the CFPA Program with funds needed for program events, resources, scholarships and accommodate unfoerseen expenses. We strive to collaborate and support opportunities for the CFPA Community.

On behalf of the CFPA Council Board, we look forward to collaborating with you and appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Anaid Mikesh

Vision and Mission

VISION

The vision of the CFPA Council is to be a collaborative community that advocates for unity, support and opportunities for CFPA students.

MISSION

The mission of the CFPA Council is to financially and logistically support - in a balanced and inclusive fashion - all CFPA concentrations, and the students who participate in them, in accordance with the Prince William County Schools’ policies and procedures.

Objectives

The objectives of the CFPA Council:

1. create and nurture connections across all CFPA concentrations

2. increase engagement in CFPA program events and activities by forming strong community and business partnerships

3. advocate for financial support for students enrolled in the CFPA program

4. provide scholarship and/or opportunities for students enrolled in the CFPA program pursuing a future in the fine and performing arts or other post-secondary plans.

CFPA Fundraising Activities

The CFPA Council was busy this holiday season working to raise funds to support the CFPA Student Council Banquet and CFPA Scholarship Fund.

The CFPA Council sold the 2017 White House Ornament and coordinated with the CFPA Student Organization to have a CFPA Design Contest for the CFPA spirit wear.

Vicki Burns and Jeanmarie Copeland spearheaded our two fundraising events. As a result of their leadership and the volunteers that help sell ornaments, we raised $2327.05.

Way to go TEAM!

We plan to have additional spirit wear available for the spring. Stay tuned...
