Parent Engagement Series Begins For Preschool

The Preschool Parent Engagement Series kicked off last week with a session on "Managing Behavior with Routines." Parents and their preschoolers came to Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center to discuss behavioral challenges, and parents were able to take home strategies for building routines and managing those behaviors. D41 teachers also shared routines and strategies they use in the classroom. During the meeting, the kids got to engage in some fun activities. The next two meetings will be April 18 and May 10. A Journey From Scotland to Glen Ellyn

Dave Johnston, husband of Hadley counselor Jessica Johnston, talked to 6th graders about "thinking outside the box" when it comes to a career. Mr. Johnston moved to Glen Ellyn from Glasgow, Scotland in 2005 to found Chicalba Bagpiping Services. A former civil engineer, Mr. Johnston talked about the importance of following your passion and using your education to help build a successful career that you love. Mr. Johnston concluded his presentation with a bagpipe performance for the students. Thank you, Mr. Johnston!

Hadley Students Create Abstract Art Using Math

Inspired by the famous work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, Mrs. Wasserman's and Ms. Jungnickel's 7th Grade algebra students created their own artwork on a coordinate grid. All curves, line segments, arcs, and shadings were produced through algebraic equations and inequalities. Students also had the opportunity to vote on their favorite artwork. Great job, Hadley 7th graders!
