Mrs. Glass'
PreAlgebra, PreCalculus, & PBL
Welcome
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. I am excited and ready to get started. I have included some links on this page that you will want to check out along with my contact information and schedule. Please look around and let me know where I can help out.
About Me
I answer to several different names - Sonya, mom, Mrs. Glass, and coach. But my favorite is mom. I have two sons, Alex and Ryder, who I enjoy chasing around to all of their activities. I am married to Bill who is my sidekick and biggest supporter. I am busy all through the year with school, sports, 4-H, and church activities. I currently teach 8th grade PreAlgebra, 8th grade math PBL, and PreCalculus. I also coach the Jr. High UIL Calculator teams.

Grading Policy
My grading policy follows Floydada Junior High guidelines and is based on two categories. The first category is formative grades like daily work, classwork, or small daily checks. These grades will make up 60% of the average. The other category is summative grades. These grades will be major quizzes, tests, and projects. They will make up 40% of the average. Formative grades are things that I can help the students with while summative grades will be more of what the student can do alone.
Progress Reports
All grades will be posted each Monday morning and progress reports will be printed and sent with the student each Wednesday. Please check with your student and you can also access the Parent Portal. Please see me if you need help setting up your account.
Reteach/Tutorial/Redo
Students will have opportunity to relearn concepts not mastered. A student can request to do the concepts again for mastery. They will need to request this in writing. The student has only 3 days to request and complete this once the graded paper is received. This is for all work. The retest for mastery will be a new assignment covering the same concepts. This is required for any student expectation under 70%.
I will provide tutorials at 7:15 - 7:45. I will also use the tutorial times built into the day at 12:10 - 12:40 and 3:40 - 4:10. If extra time is needed just come see me and we will arrange something that works.

Communication
I will use remind 101 to send out text messages to students. Please ask your student if they have set it up. If you would like to receive text messages too please let me know. I will also use the gmail accounts provided by the school to communicate with the students so have them check their email often for important reminders and dates. ICU will be set up soon and that is how I will let you know if a student has 7 a.m. for missing work.
