MRS. HOLMAN AND MRS. FERGUSON ARE THE BEST!
Administration Appreciation is next week and we would like to thank Connie Holman and Kari Ferguson for their leadership during this unprecedented time. Their incredible work behind the scenes has helped students and staff navigate the challenges and changes of fully remote, hybrid, and in-person learning. They always have the best interest of the Brookdale Bobcats in mind when making important decisions. They are so happy for every interaction they get to have with Bobcats and their families online or in person and are looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year.

RELEASES NEEDED
Please remember Monday, May 31 is the deadline for school choice/releases to be submitted to have your children considered for placement at Brookdale next year. A letter and district policy was emailed (last week) from Cindy Yant to all families that need to submit one.
Out of District – Students who live outside of the Franklin Pierce Schools boundaries, and are currently attending, will be considered for re-enrollment upon receipt of a school choice transfer from the school district in which you reside.
With-In-District – If you are attending Brookdale on a release from one of the other elementary schools in our district, the online release must be completed by May 10 to hold a spot for your child for next year.
Overload students – If your child is currently enrolled at Brookdale on overload from another school in our district, you must enroll as soon as possible in your home school. This ensures that your child will be included in their spring placement process. Please remember that your child will be withdrawn from Brookdale at the end of the year.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact Cindy Yant at 298-3100.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
Online registration for new students enrolling in the 2021-22 school year is continuing. We will be registering only new kindergarten through 5th grade students who live within our attendance boundaries, or have daycare in our area. Current students are automatically enrolled for next year, with the exception of overload students who will return to their home schools for the 2021-22. Please find the link below to the enrollment area on our district website. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years of age by August 31, 2021. Enrollees must download a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency so please have them ready before starting the process. If you have any questions on the registration process, please call 253-298-3100.

SCHOOL BOUNDARY CHANGES
Dear FPS Families:
Franklin Pierce Schools is going through a process to review school boundary lines in order to match school enrollments with building capacities and plan for growth in our community. A boundary review committee consisting of FPS families, community members and staff are looking at population information and community input to make a recommendation to the Superintendent.
We are actively seeking community input on the current map option as we look for ways to improve the school boundaries. Please click on the link below to view an overview of the process, to look at the proposed boundary maps, and to share your feedback with the boundary review committee.
REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE
- If you need to come into the building, please press the telephone button on your right as you look at the front door. This will enable the office to see you and to buzz you into the entry if needed.
- Please notify the office of any changes in the way your child will go home at the end of the day. We need this information before 2:15 so we have time to get a note to the teacher.
- Call the office if your child will be absent, whether they are a remote student or an in-person student. If out due to an appointment, please get a note from the Dr.
- If you need to take your child out of school before the end of the school day, please come before 2:30 so you won't be stuck in the end-of-the-day pick-up line! You will need to sign your child out and wait for them to come from their classroom, so allow plenty of time.
- If your phone number, email address, or home address changes, please let us know so we have the most up-to-date contact information for you. This is especially important for students attending in-person. If they become ill, or otherwise need your help, we need a way to contact you! Thank you!

CLOTHING GUIDELINES
CLOTHING GUIDELINES – We send along these reminders to help you and your child select clothing that is comfortable, appropriate for warm weather days at school, and meets the school clothing policy. The dress code regulations that follow are not designed to inhibit personal taste but to encourage learning, good behavior, and safety. Thank you for your support!
· Crop tops and bare midriffs are not acceptable at school – tummies MUST be covered.
· Shorts and skirts are to be NO SHORTER THAN 2 INCHES above the knee.
· Straps on shirts & tops MUST BE at least 2 inches wide - No spaghetti strapped shirts or dresses.
· Bagging, sagging pants are not allowed.
No flip flop, open toe, or high heeled shoes. It is very hard for students to keep them on during recess and they are not appropriate for physical education class.Kindergarten & First Grade Families - Please be sure to pack an extra set of clothes for your child in their backpack. This ensures that they have something familiar to change into if their clothes get wet.
