Paycheck Protection Program
As part of the December 2020 Economic Aid Act, the Small Business Administration is offering a second round of forgivable loans. In order to qualify, you must have been in business by February 15, 2020 to be eligible. Money you received from the PPP is not taxable income and at least 60% of the PPP money must be spent on payroll. Contact your local bank to apply. The deadline is March 31, 2021.

Region 10 CACFP/SFSP Power Up Summit
The CACFP summit will be held on February 25th covering Operation topics and on February 26th covering the Administration topics. There will be three different schedules (A, B & C) for CEs to choose from to meet training needs.

CACFP Meal Service Academy
March 27, 2021
A Virtual Culinary Journey -Conference AgendaOne-day intensive workshop where participants will enhance their knowledge and gain practical skills to implement the CACFP meal pattern. This academy will target menu planning, purchasing, required documentation, and meal preparation. Participants will be able to plan a menu with an emphasis on multicultural recipes, incorporating whole grains and leave with the tools to train and implement practices at sites.

SFSP Application Timeframe and Deadlines
January 15: Access to SFSP application packet opens in TX-UNPS.
March 16: Deadline for CEs requesting an advance payment.
April 15: Deadline for new CEs*, or renewing CEs in need of a more thorough review** May 1: Deadline for renewing CEs.
*Organizations applying to be new CEs should take into consideration the processing time needed for the pre-eligibility form and FND-101, Certificate of Authority for External Users to avoid a missed deadline.
**Renewing CEs in need of a more thorough review are those with a deferred serious deficiency in:
• the previous CACFP and/or SFSP program year, and/or
• the current CACFP program year.
Recommended SFSP Application Timeframes For Additional Requests
At least 60 days prior to start of SFSP operations, a CE should submit:
- A request for a rural designation of a SFSP site located in a Metropolitan statistical area
At least 90 days prior to start of SFSP operations, a CE should submit:
- A request for a waiver of SFSP requirements.
TDA will notify CEs about the approval or denial of these requests. See the TDA SFSP Supplemental Handbook for information on how to submit these requests.
