What are 21st Century Skills We Focus on in the Classroom?
WIN Time (What I Need Time) in the Area of Reading
Teachers spent most of Friday afternoon analyzing data from the fall MAP and DIBELS reading assessments. This data was used to determine how we can best support students in the area of reading. Some students will work on missing skills in the areas of phonics, fluency and reading comprehension. Other students may participate in reading enrichment activities. During WIN time, students will work in small groups with one of our fourth grade teachers and/or our innovation specialists. More information regarding assessment data and WIN time interventions will be shared with parents during fall conferences.
Please Keep Toys, Poppits, Etc. at Home
Lately students have been bringing in stuffed animals, toys, blankets, Poppits, etc to class. These tend to become a distraction so we would really appreciate it if students would leave these items at home. Thank you so much!
Standards Based Grading and Report Card
Our report card will look a little different this year because it is now standards based. Although we cover all of the Kansas State Standards, our district has identified several priority standards that we will target throughout the year. These priority standards are what will appear on your child's report card. It is the goal to have all students proficient in these priority standards by the end of the year. Teachers were trained on the new report card this past Friday so look for grades to be entered soon. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Going Home Folders/Incomplete Work
As we dive deeper into our curriculum, there may be assignments that your child does not complete in class. We will send these assignments home in your child's take home folder and the assignment will be due the following morning. These assignments will cover skills that your child should be able to do independently at home.
