Oak Tree Newsletter

Message from Principal Lunt,
Dear Oak Tree Families-
Our third-grade students have been so excited this week for their field trip to the Music Instrument Museum. It seems like everything went well and the trip was worth the wait! I appreciate the efforts of our teachers in getting the trip organized and I thank those parents who were able to chaperone.
Next week on Thursday and Friday we will have our parent-teacher conferences. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with your child(ren)'s teacher(s) to be updated on academic, behavioral, social, and emotional progress. If you have not yet signed up for a time to conference please reach out to the teacher(s). If needed, we can arrange for you to meet virtually with teachers with a little advance notice.
Finally, OAKtoberfest is approaching and PTO is looking for sponsors! This could be a small business, non-profit organization, or even a family. There are two sponsorship options: silver ($250) or gold ($500). Each one comes with perks and promotions. PTO can give more information upon request. Please reach out to oaktreepto@gmail.com if you would like more information on becoming a sponsor.
Thank you for all you do to support our students in Standing Tall and SOARing High!
Mr. Lunt

News from the Nurse
Oak Tree families,
The flu season is just around the corner. The flu season can
begin as early as October and last into April. Illness is the top reason students and families give for missing school! According to the CDC, Influenza causes more hospitalizations among children than any other vaccine-preventable disease.
Symptoms of the flu can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. The flu vaccine is the best tool to prevent the flu and protect others. The CDC recommends a yearly flu (influenza) vaccine for all children 6 months and older in the US-ideally by the end of October.
You can visit www.azdhs.gov for more information on where you and your family can get free flu and covid-19 vaccines. Flu shots and Covid-19 vaccines can be given together on the same day. For more information on Covid-19 vaccinations and the timing of boosters based on age, you can visit www.cdc.gov.
