MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT
Big Red Community,
When I look around this time of year, our community’s generosity is on full display. It starts in our schools.
Many Belton ISD schools and student organizations have been collaborating with local non-profit organizations to take care of our neighbors. They’ve held food drives, collected socks, and raised money. You and your student likely participated in one or more of these giving projects. As we head into December, there will be additional opportunities.
These are incredible learning experiences for students, and I’m grateful to our staff and the local non-profits who come alongside us to make them possible. Students are able to practice all of our Journey of a Graduate competencies — empathy, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and perseverance — while making an immediate impact right here in Bell County.
You may have noticed that I always introduce myself in videos as “the proud superintendent of schools in Belton ISD.” That’s no coincidence. I am the proud superintendent. Very proud, actually. The generosity of the Big Red Community is just one reason why.
Best,
Matt Smith, Ed.D.
Superintendent
