Solitary [Escape From Furnace]
Alexander Gordon Smith
What I liked about the book
I loved this sequel to Lockdown. It was exciting and adventurous. The thing I loved the most about this book was the emotion with in the story. Alex is continuing his journey in trying to escape the Furnace with his friends, but one thing is still stopping him. Donovan. He made him a promise in the last book that he would come back and now in this book his promise is still being tested. I loved the way the author wrote the internal conflict that Alex had while he was in solitary and the Donovan figure was well written. I also liked how I got more attached to the characters and the part with Alex and Donovan in the lab one last time was a bitter sweet moment. I never got bored and it. I especially liked how the author organized the story. In the beginning there was a lot of mystery and wonder, then as the story kept going you get to know and get in the characters mind more. At the end of the story there is a great cliff hanger and the story of the characters makes you want to keep reading.
What I did not like about the book
The only thing I did not like about the book was the fact that the characters rambled sometimes. Whenever Alex was alone with his thoughts, I felt like he just rambled and gave a little too much detail. The thing with details, I think it should be presented with the 5 scenes, but if sight is going to be the main one that is going to be described, then that's it for describing. If there is too much details then the reader can get too lost, or grow bored.

Would I recommend it?
Yes I would recommend this book for anyone. I would also recommend reading the first book before this one, only because some parts and characters would make scene. Even if someone doesn't read the first book, this is still a great book on its own. Has good suspense, action, and emotion. I cannot wait to continue the series!
