Who is to blame?

The downfall of Macbeth
Many people had an effect on the downfall of Macbeth in the play, but because of the things the 3 witches said to Macbeth, they are the main reason for Macbeth's downfall. "The prince of Cumberland! That is a step on which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, for in my way it lies" (Shakespear). The witches told Macbeth that he would be king so his emotions over came him and made him decide to kill others in order to become king. "Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches, who are gleefully discussing the trouble they have covered" (Shakespear) At this point in the play, the witches know that Macbeth will do anything to get the power of king, so they continue to cause him more trouble. "Next a bloody child assures Macbeth that he will never be harmed by someone born by a woman" The witches continue to tell Macbeth lies so that he thinks he is invincible. Because of this Macbeth gets many enemies because he only cares about the power and finally someone decides to kill Macbeth.
Imagery
Macbeth murders someone and has blood on his hands, so Lady Macbeth says to wash his hands and all evil will wash away. "Will all great Neptune’s oceans wash clear this blood from my hand? No this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine making the green one red" this quote shows that there is so much blood on his hand that the evil can not be washed away even with the water of the ocean. Since Macbeth did such an evil deed that if he tries to wash the blood off it will make the green sea red. Without this quote the readers would not understand that Macbeth knows he made a mistake and feels guilty for murdering.
Foreshadowing
Throughout the play the witches are hinting that if Macbeth continues to kill all of these people so he can get power, then something bad will happen to him. "Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches, who are gleefully discussing the trouble they have covered" (Shakespear). This is explaining the consequences Macbeth will have to face since he keeps listening to all the false things the witches are telling him and he will just end up in a big mess.
Dynamic Character
In the play, Macbeths wife, Lady Macbeth says that he is not man enough because he does not want to kill others so he can be king, so Lady Macbeth says that if he does not go through with the killing then she will do it herself. "To alter favor ever is to fear. Leave all the rest to me" (Shakespear). Lady Macbeth wants the power so bad that she is saying she will kill and be more of a man than Macbeth. This effects Macbeth because now he has to go through with all the killings to prove to his wife that he is indeed a man.
"My Lullaby"- The Lion King 2
In the movie, "The Lion King 2" the song "My Lullaby" plays and this relates to when Lady Macbeth is convincing Macbeth to go through with the murder. The song says, "Oh, the battle may be bloody, but that kind of works for me" (Warrender). Although the witches are to blame for Macbeths downfall, Lady Macbeth also has a huge role because she reassures him that he should go through with the murder no matter the consequences.
The Sixth Sense
In this movie a young boy is talking to the supernatural, despite the fact that they terrify and threaten him. In Macbeth the witches mess with Macbeth to make him think that he will be king but threaten him that if he does not kill others then he won't be king. the supernatural in "The Sixth Sense" cause the young kid to make bad decisions just like the witches cause Macbeth to make bad decisions.
