We started school this week!
We were a little nervous.. but also excited!
Our personalities are already shining through!
COLORING!
We began working on our fine motor skills! You can help at home by helping me to color inside the lines.
CUTTING!
We learned about scissor safety and began cutting paper! This is another fine motor skill!
GLUE!
No project is complete without glue sticks!
*PLAY*
We build with blocks and magna blocks (magnetic shapes that can form a car, house, and much more!)
READING!
We got to explore the many books in our classroom library, and enjoyed fun ways to picture walk!
*Making Friends*
We played games to get to know our classmates, and have already began to form friendships! Don't forget to ask about these at home!
This week we
spent time writing
using sight words "I" and "can"
Our Apple poems!
John Warren shows off his apple core!
We made instruments in our classroom Makers Space
Ask your child about our newest alternative seating options!
Busy Week!
We went on a field trip to the Clemens Center and saw "Dog loves books"! We also had a visit from Horseheads Fire Department teaching us about fire safety!
Picture Day!
Everyone looked so wonderful!!!
"I am" mirror
Two of our sight words are I and Am.. this fun little mirror is not only good sight word practice but is also a nice reminder of all of the characteristics that we are in our classroom!
Shaving Cream
The students had fun this week practicing writing in shaving cream! This is a fun way that you can have your child practice writing their letters at home as well! (Bonus: it cleans your table wonderfully and makes the whole room smell fresh!)
Spooky Sense Center #2
Sight: we used colored cellophane and toilet paper rolls to change the way we see things!
Spooky Sense Center #3
Taste!
We tried to distinguish different tastes by eating random jellybeans
Spooky Sense Center #5
huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped make this happen !! Seen here is Gavin's mom reading a spooky story and listening to spooky music with the students - Sense of hearing!
Spooky Sense Center #5
Touch!!!!!!!
This was by far my favorite one to watch them do! I put random items into five different bags and numbered them ... The students reached into each bag and then had to whisper their prediction to Ms Galusha! Their facial expressions tell it all!!!
Inside the bags were: jelly beans, marshmallows, fur, whipped cream and cold cooked spaghetti noodles.

We read a Scholastic New's about the election..
What will it be Wednesday?
This past Wednesday we had visitors from the local police department and fire department! They greeted the students as they came into the building for the day!
Special Treat
Our class received a special tour of one of the patrol cars - we got to play with the sirens, check out the backseat, and talk about the transportation rules/laws (what we're learning in ELA!) we also received a good morning note from the fire fighters!
Look how great our writing is getting!
"We go" sentences
Sight word practice too!
Dear Santa...
