Although advanced in many ways, Gifted Children can often be in danger of learning the least in school because of their unique needs. In this interactive training, you will learn about social characteristics of Gifted Children and how you can contribute to the effective education of your child. We will explore strategies to identify behaviors that will be crucial to your child’s teacher providing a better learning environment for your child. You will also learn practices that you can use at home to nurture the curiosity and creativity of your child.

Join us in this session to learn how to combine science and reading in a natural way. Experience hands-on science lessons using picture books to help your child read to learn about the science concept being taught. You will leave this session with lots of tools to help you engage your child in science at home and help open your child’s mind to discover the wonders of science that surrounds them on a daily basis!

Building Basic Reading Skills at Home- Make and Take Session

Join us for a fun, interactive and crafty session designed to guide you through creating engaging activities to support your child’s acquisition of basic reading skills. We will focus on the development of print concepts, phonemic awareness and phonics skills. This sessions is appropriate for parents with students in any grade level that require remediation for independent decoding. All materials will be provided.

Early Childhood Parent Toolkit

Join us as we explore the ESC-20 Early Childhood Parent Plus+ Toolkit! Parent Plus + is an engaging set of activities for parents to use in playful learning with their preschool aged children. This training will train PARENTS to become actively involved in learning how to enhance student engagement with playful learning activities in the home setting. The kit includes activities aligned with the Pre-Kindergarten Guideline standards in math, reading, writing, and language development.

After you register with the webinar session ID# and complete the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email that contains the webinar link and the link to download the handouts/materials.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your junk/spam folder.

There is always an ESC-20 staff member on the other end of the webinar. Utilize the chat box to ask any questions for the presenter or if you are experiencing any technical difficulties.

The web manager will do a roll call and ask for your name if it is not clear when you log in. Please respond as we check off your name on the sign-in so you get credit for your attendance.

Consultant, Family Engagement-- Education Service Center, Region 20

Kimberly has worked in the field of special education for 19 years. She has been on staff at ESC-20 for 10 years. She spent 7 years as a special education curriculum specialist and is currently the Family Engagement Consultant.

Kimberly has become quite passionate about empowering families to be more involved in their child's education and future as well as challenging and supporting schools to increase their efforts to involve families in their child's educational journey and focus on Family Engagement as an instructional tool that improves student's academic outcomes.

Kimberly enjoys living out in the country with her husband, Tyson and two daughters, Lynette & Lucy Sue.
