Park Layne Elementary Monthly News
December 2017
Welcome to Our December Digital Newsletter
We've had a busy month of learning and tried to fit in some fun as well. We know how important it is to build special memories and make school a special place to be. Look for grade cards coming home on January 16 to check in and see how your child is progressing on their learning goals. If you have any questions or concerns at that point, please contact your child's teacher. We need your help and support to help your child learn and grow,
Kids Hope Mentoring Program Returning to Park Layne Elementary
We are so excited to see the number of volunteers at Park Layne increasing yet again. This time in the form of a program we've had in the district for about 10 years, but have not had at Park Layne Elementary for the last 5 years. Kids' Hope is a mentoring program that brings volunteers into the school to meet with students an hour a week. The purpose of the program is to provide positive role models and supports for students as volunteers meet with students an hour a week to work on certain academic skills but more importantly to develop a positive relationship and to let the student know someone else cares about them and is there for them. We have Kids' Hope volunteers in the district that have followed students from grade level building to grade level building all the way to the high school. Our hope is that with some fresh volunteers, we can begin this relationship at this young age and continue to provide these supports. To learn more about Kids' Hope follow the link.
PTO
PTO is a great way to get involved and help out our schools. Our next PTO meeting will be Monday, December 4 at 7 pm in the Tecumseh Middle School library. Enter the front doors of the middle school and the library is about halfway back the main hallway on your right. If you would like to get involved with the planning of our PTO Spring Festival, join us at 6 pm on December 4 for a festival meeting prior to the regular PTO meeting. Did you miss out on our spirit wear sale of t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. If so, stop by the school office to purchase extras that were ordered. You may want to consider these for Christmas gifts. We have a great variety of styles and sizes available in each elementary office. Thanks to everyone who sold cookie dough. Students who earned the bounce house reward or lunch with the principal will get these rewards in before Christmas break. Sign up for Remind alerts for PTO by following this link. Check out the PTO Facebook page for updates as well.
