The position follows the school schedule and is a non-benefit position.
If you would like to interview, please call Chrissy Johnson at 410-313-5506 to make an appointment.
Hour of Code
The week of December 3rd is Computer Science Education Week and our school will be participating by holding the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code was launched by Code.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to growing interest in the computer sciences by allowing children to see how engaging coding can be. During the week, students will be participating in a number of coding-themed activities in technology class.
"The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science." (Source: Code.org)
At Lisbon Elementary, students learning and applying coding concepts (such as computational problem solving and algorithmic thinking) has already begun. From kindergarten on, students are beginning to explore these concepts both through electronic and hands-on activities including programming robots and Scratch coding (in 4th and 5th grades)! Beyond the Hour of Code, we will continue to explore these concepts in technology class.
We are thrilled to share this experience with our students and are eagerly anticipating next week's learning activities. Should you want to learn more or use some of the activities at home, please see below for resources.
When exploring the activities, be sure to use the checkboxes on the left side to filter activities, paying special attention to the "Classroom Technology" section. This will allow you to quickly locate activities that are available for any electronic devices you have at home (computer, iPad, etc.). If you do not have an electronic device, offline activities are provided as well.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Best,
Mr. Glennon
