Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
November 16, 2020
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
This week Eagle Canyon celebrates Kindness Week with our Annual Donation Drive. This year we are continuing to support the Ronald McDonald House. Please see the information below to learn more.
ESSENTIAL STANDARDS ASSESSMENTS
Students in grades 3 - 6 are scheduled to take their second round of Essential Standards Assessments by November 20th. These formative assessments are used to identify our students' progress towards mastering the grade level essential standards. It is important for students to work independently on these assessments so teachers can plan instruction accordingly. These assessments are not used for grades, they are only used as instructional tools.
EAGLE CANYON YEARBOOKS
Eagle Canyon Yearbooks are on sale now! New this year, the yearbook will have a hardcover. Take advantage of the low price of $25 before prices increase in January. If you are ready to place your order, stop by the Eagle Canyon office to fill out an order form.
ATTENDANCE
Families are beginning to receive letters regarding their child's attendance. Please understand, teachers are required to document their students' engagement during live instruction. Students are required to remain present in their virtual class during live instruction. When students turn their cameras off and do not respond when called on to participate in a class discussion, they are considered absent.
Please help us by talking with your children about the importance of being engaged in daily instruction and learning activities. Also talk to them about only opening tabs their teachers ask them to open. It is very easy for students to open video games in other tabs, but look like they are engaged in live instruction. We need to work together to prevent learning loss during Distance Learning. It will take everyone working together to help our students succeed. Thank you for your help!
CHAMPIONS
Please see the file below to learn more about Champions. Champions is a vendor who offers full-time childcare during the school closure. Students can bring their devices so they are engaged in Distance Learning.
Eagle Canyon has added a public Facebook page. We will continue to also have a Facebook group where families can share photos in the comments. The Eagle Canyon Facebook page is a public page for announcements only. We will not share pictures of students on the Facebook page.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

Eagle Canyon's Annual Donation Drive
We look forward to everyone's participation in the Kindness Week activities. Look for Facebook posts this week to share your child's picture and share how they are demonstrating kindness.
Support Eagle Canyon
A popular fundraising opportunity all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. All you have to do is scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of the purchase. The app will let you know if any of the items purchased qualify. If so, we earn 10 cents per product.
Mrs. Barragan, Eagle Canyon's PTA Box Top Chair, will be outside at the cabanas on Wednesdays from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. to collect Box Top coupons and receipts.
As of today, our school has earned $58.80 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,000.00. If you also get the coupons, please turn them in to the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!
