Energy
Madison Helm 4th Period
Energy is Everywhere!
Energy is the ability to do some type of work or movement.
Everything has energy, simply because everything has mass. If you have mass then you have a gravitational pull. Everything has gravitational potential and kinetic energy. The Law of Conservation of Matter
The Law of Conservation of Matter is the matter cannot be created or destroyed. Meaning, you cannot get rid of matter and you can not conjure up more matter. The amount of matter there is will always be the amount of matter.
Examples of Energy Transformations
Lamp
Chemical energy (from battery) turns into light energy (from lamp).
Roller Coaster
The potential energy from going up the first big hill is stored up until you get almost to the bottom when its kinetic energy is greatest.
Digesting Food
Metabolism is the process when our body takes the food and drink that you eat and turns it into energy to do tasks.
Potential and KInetic
Potential energy is stored up energy. Like when your getting ready to jump, you bend your knee's to get leverage. That is potential energy. Kinetic is the opposite. It is energy in motion. Right before you come down when jumping, is the greatest kinetic energy.
